Uranium prices averaged USD 86.48 per pound in January, up 9.7% from December. On 30 January, the commodity traded at USD 99.00 per pound, up 21.3% from 31 December.
Prices hit a 20-month high in January. This was partly linked to speculation, with Sprott—owner of the world’s top uranium fund—raising its holdings by 4.7%, one of the sharpest increases since early 2022. However, prices fell in early February after Kazakhstan-based Kazatomprom released upbeat output guidance.
