Lead prices averaged USD 1,878 per metric ton in March, down 2.0% from February. On 31 March, the commodity traded at USD 1,872 per metric ton, down 2.4% from 27 February.
Average lead prices fell for a second successive month in March, dragged down by a stronger U.S. dollar and a deteriorating industrial outlook. Rising energy prices have fueled concerns over softer private consumption and, in turn, manufacturing output, especially in the automotive sector, where lead is mainly used for batteries. High inventory levels further weighed on prices for the metal.
